Description
The
Rico-SHE was designed to meet the requirements
of the new UK 60 inch EPP pylon racing rules and to provide
slope flyers with a model that has the performance of more
conventionally constructed slope soarers with the durability
of an EPP model. Performance wise the Rico-SHE
is quicker and more aerobatic than a Pzazz but marginally
slower than a Stiletto which was reputedly the quickest non-moulded
/ composite 60in racer available in the UK.
If
the Rico-SHE is never used as a pylon racer
owners will be more than satisfied with it's performance as
a sports aerobatic sloper as the Rico-SHE is
not only quick but fully aerobatic. It can sustain inverted
flight, do continuous outside loops and return a quick rate
of roll etc..
The
Rico-SHE comes in two versions, the standard
one with a 1/16 inch (1.5mm) ply fuselage box and a RG15 wing
whilst the LW uses 1/32in (0.8mm) ply and a
composite RG15 / Eppler 205 wing. The LW is
3ozs (100gms) lighter due to not so much nose weight being
required. There is provision to carry 12 ozs (300gms) of lead
ballast to give added bite in strong! winds.
Contruction
consists of a ply box fuselage covered in EPP and cross weave
tape whilst the wing follows the standard PMP practice of
using hardwood spars and balsa ailerons. Construction time
is a 1/4 to 1/3 of that of a similar wood foam model.
Unfortunately
performance on this scale in EPP comes at a price as the Rico-SHE
requires 3 metal geared micro servos (HS81MG)and a
2/3AF size Rx battery with a small receiver (Align
6 / JR R700) where the servos and crystal plugs in the
end
