Description
Building
on the success of the Wanabee is the Impulse. Whilst the Wanabee
was designed for pylon racing the Impulse has been designed for
sports flying with the emphasis more on looks and general flying
qualities than out and out speed. It features a swept back wing
for extra stability and a modified wing section to make it more
forgiving to 'stick' abuse. Whilst the Impulse is more of a sports
model than a pylon racer it still qualifies for the 60inch EPP pylon
racing class. The Impulse is capable of sustained inverted flight,
loops and rolls etc. In fact any manouevre you would expect of a
model of this type. With the slim fuselage and very efficient MH42
wing section the Impulse will outperform most models of a similar
size irrespective of construction. This coupled with its ability
to absorb a good 'thump' makes it an ideal sports model for the
those difficult sites and dodgy days!
Guest
pilots have regularly complimented the Impulse on its smooth flying
, docile handling and its ability to do slow tight thermal turns
without any tendancy to 'bite'.There
is provision to carry up to 10 ozs (300gms) of lead ballast to give
added bite in strong winds but so far we have not found this necessary.
Contruction
is very similar to that of the Wanabee which consists of a ply box
fuselage covered in EPP and cross weave tape. The wing follows the
standard PMP practice of using hardwood spars with additional centre
section bracing and ply/balsa laminated ailerons for stiffness and
durability. The leading edge of The Correx Fin is fitted with a
plastic fairing which also doubles as the Rx aerial conduit. Construction
time is about 1/3 of that of a similar wood / foam model.
The
Impulse requires 2 metal geared micro servos (HS81MG/HS85MG)and
a 2/3AF size Rx battery with a small receiver (Webra Nano
6 / JR R700 / Hitec Slimline / Futaba 147F) where the servos
and crystal plugs in the end
